Announcements for November 2008

  • Nice family pic? Ted & Marea Dumbauld of New Canaan & Sea Girt (yes, CT & NJ) & their fam. Nice day of fluking!

  • So...another season in the books! As 'bad' as the 'Canyons were, the fall striper fishing, so far, is even worse...except you don't have to spend that much money getting 'there'!

    • That being said....what did we accomplish this year?

      • Paid off the boat. Yep, five years folks, of humping it through, doing repairs/maintenance on our own & improving the boat as we went. DONE. What does that mean to you? It means that since Captain Bob owns, owns his slip at the BYC, we are just 'fine' with whatever happens with the economy. The boat is well kept, well improved & with Captain Paul on board for engine maintenance...we are 'tip-top' & ready to run.

      • We will 'be here' when others are up for sale, being 'taken over by banks', and just cannot afford to do the maintenance on their boat to run them. Just take a peek at how many boats were not even launched this season? 2009 will be much worse. Us? No issues, mates, just the best fishing platform on the water with a fine crew & great tackle/gear.

  • Gotta laugh...three years ago, I started pricing all fishing at 'boat' plus fuel. And I took some heat for it. Now? Good luck to any boneheads who actually price any charters 'all-in'...they'll be coming back to you when you show up, or beforehand, with their hands out for 'fuel surcharges'. Trust me folks, I'm way ahead of the curve in being fair. Like you do? We get paid for what we do...like a real job. If budget is an issue, it's time to consider more shark trips...more 'inshore' trolls...& more bluefishing with light tackle, then finish up with some fluking? Be a little more imaginative with your dollars this year, we can give u good advice!

  • It's over but boy, was it fun? click here for pics/results from the "Brett Bailey Mako Rodeo"!

    • Good times, great memories & a wonderful cause.

  • And....the annual Brielle Family Fishing Tournament was a hoot!

  • Fishing regulations? Go here

  • OK, you've all got 'Carcharodon' shirts, right? But how many of you have the 'Carcharodon Knife Tool'? Hard to believe, but besides knives, scissors & a host of other tools...it has a corkscrew. Does it work? Czech it out...

  • And,....the new ladies Carcharodon shirt? Big Shannon (as opposed to little Shannon) models it.

  • My dad passed on Christmas Day, 2006. Hard to believe it'll be two year soon. If he was 'stolen' I'd be sad, but he had a great life, was a great man who taught me...& many others so much.

  • Actually, many, many 'Fitters have been in touch from his union. Some great stories from some of his apprentices & co-workers, quite a tribute to a man with 'work ethic'.

  • I've gotten hundreds of emails, messages & calls from charter clients, some that I see every day down here, others who've met my Dad through the years. Former 'mates', friends, charter clients who used to invited him aboard their trips...all have weighed in on knowing him. Seems everyone feels: "He just made me feel good".

  • Check back in from time to time...and if you "believe", please say a prayer for him.

Fisherman's Prayer

I pray that I may live to fish
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net
And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.
